All Carbon sources matter- no matter how small

That's because atmospheric CO2 is the highest in 14 million years increasing at rate unprecedented in tens of millions of years

From all sources CO2 emissions must decline rapidly and immediately.

That's because CO2 emissions last 100s of years in the atmosphere.

That's also what the IPCC 6th Assessment has said

In general CO2 emissions can be looked as coming from two major sources.

1. Industrial energy production and

                                    2. Industrial food production.

Interestingly as used these are both unhealthy for people as well as planet

Industrial Energy Production

Fossil fuels as we we all know that the largest single source of CO2 is the combustion of fossil fuels for energy. That includes natural gas,

which is not a clean fuel which is OK to continue with.

Fossil fuel CO2 emissions are record high (IEA 2023 emissions)

CO2 Sources

Methane source of CO2

Food production is a major source of methane, in the livestock-meat industry and rice cultivation. Ruminant cattle exhale methane from digestion.

A relatively small amount of methane emissions is converted by oxidation in the air to CO2.

Every source of CO matters, so this is another reason methane emissions have to fall to near zero for climate stabilization

Emissions of fossil fuel CO2 in detail is provided by

the Global Carbon Project's annual report of global fossil carbon  (budget)

Covid

The large Covid emissions dip is clear and the equally fast rebound from government fossil fuel corporate funding

The average linear increase of fossil. fuel CO2 emissions from 1960 is sustained and rapid

Coal is the top fossil fuel type -the very worst. From 1960 coal CO2  increase was far the fastest.

There has been a huge increase in coal CO2 emissions from 2000, and it was the biggest post-Covid rebound.

Oil rapid increase in emissions is sustained tracking with gas.

Fossil fuel CO2 emissions by fuel               Top emitting countries            Emissions per capita top countries

Cement manufacturing  is a source of CO2 also from burning fossil carbon,

in this case burning limestone which is sea bed fossil carbon

Cement CO2 emissions increased faster from 2000

Deforestation is a significant source of CO2,

agriculture is also and the two together are called by the IPCC Land use change

2. Industrial Food Production

Industrial mechanized chemical-intensive agriculture

makes up about 30% of greenhouse gas emissions

When today's deforestation for food production is

included food production is a significant CO2 source.

Ploughing releases soil CO2

Food distribution on a global basis is a CO2 source.
